Video Debat Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim vs Dato Shabery Chik

What a great debate by both of them. But I personally think that Dato Seri Anwar is very much experience and better compared to Dato Shabery Chik.

Hope we can post the video clip soon for this debate.

The Malaysian Social Contract

This article was taken from our ex-Prime Minister, Ybhg Tun Dr. Mahathir blog. We might too lazy to read, understand about this, but please read what Tun has written here. It might help us to understand better.

  1. Before there was Malaya and Malaysia the peninsular was known as Tanah Melayu, or Malay Land.
  2. Saying this alone would result in accusations of being racist.
  3. But I need to go back in history if I am going to be able to explain about Malaysia’s social contract.
  4. Through treaties signed by the Rulers of the Malay States of the Peninsular the British acquired the right to rule the Malay States. These treaties obviously recognised and legitimised the States as Malay States. No one disputed this. Even the aborigines accepted this as shown by their submission to the rule of the Malay Sultans.
  5. Initially the peoples living in the States were divided into indigenous Malays and aborigines who were subjects of the Malay rulers and foreign guests who were not subjects of the rulers. There were no citizenship or documents about citizenship status as in most countries.
  6. The foreign guests prospered in the British ruled Malay States and in the British colonies of Penang, Malacca and Singapore. The Malay subjects of the Rulers and the Rulers themselves did not feel threatened by the numbers of these non-Malays and the disparities between the general wealth and progress of the foreign guests and the subjects of the Rulers. They did not think that the foreigners who had settled in the country would ever demand citizenship rights.
  7. When Japan conquered the Malay States and the colonies of the Straits Settlements, the Chinese felt insecure as the Japanese were their historical enemies.

Brand New Nissan Sylphy

nissan_sylphy.jpg

Elevate your status ! Venture into a new presence of elegance with the all new Nissan SYLPHY 2.0L CVTC. Be captivated by the sleek curvature of its body lines and interior styling, an expression of SYLPHY’s S-MOTION design philosophy. While sublime performance is driven by the seamless transition and smooth acceleration of the XTRONIC CVT system.

Not enough attractive ? How about if we share with you the following fact :

  • It won last year’s Japan Good Design Award
  • Nissan SLYPHY is awarded 6-Star rating by JNCAP (Japanese New Car Assessment Program (Currently 6-Star is the highest safety assessment under JNCAP rating)

The long awaited Nissan Sylphy finally hit Malaysia market and with the design, quality, and of course the price, this will become phenomenon just like Grand Livina.

The Nissan Sylphy assembles at Tan Chong Motor’s Serendah plant utilising the Nissan Production Way (NPW). This model is offered with a 2.0 litre engine (nXtronic-CVT oly) with 6 elegant colour options.

What do you understand with nXtronic - CVT ? Through my reading I found the info about XTRONIC CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission)
XTRONIC CVT is a tough unit and designed to handle high torquet output from engines as large as 3.5 litres. For those still unfamiliar with the CVT, think of it as an automatic transmission without gears, which is really what it is. Rather than gears, there are two variable-diameter pulleys that move back and forth apart from each other to create ‘gear ratios’. This, in effect, creates an ‘infinite’ number of ratios and transitions are super-smooth.

Because the CVT makes full and efficient use of all the engine output at all times, fuel economy is greatly enhanced. For the Sylphy, Nissan claims 16 kms/litre, what a great figure especially when we see fuel price hike everyday.

The price for this model is around RM112,800 in West Malaysia, while the Luxury version at RM116,800. This model could be the altis or even civic killer. But knowing the civic hard core, I believe this will give big impact to boring altis.

Sime Darby’s selective prosecution

logo_simedarby.gif

What a big news this week, few top management from Sime Darby (e-ghope actually) was dismissed and resigned due to RM120mil trading losses at GHope’s wholly owned refinery Golden Jomalina. Razidan Ghazalli and Muhammad Mohan Kittu Abdullah decided to fight on by refusing to resigna and they were dismissed ! While the other 3 Dato’ Sabri Ahmad, Dr Anhar Suki and Azmir Yahya decided to resign.

I used to work with them and I personally agreed some comments in Sime Darby Watch Blog that only Azmir Yahya was directly involve and accountable to all loses done by our friend Badrul. Like what din said in the blog that other four are victims of selective prosecution aimed to purge former Golden Hope staff from the senior management team.

Anyway, more explaination can be read at Sime Darby Watch

Petrol Price Comparison amongst the producer

If you noticed in the news, our government always justify the increase by saying that our fuel price is still lower than Singapore. Where ever they go, they will always compare with Singapore, Thailand. The statistic released by MalaysiaKini may be can help us to determine whether our $2.70/litre is still cheap or not.

In The STAR today also reported that the price effects begin to kick in.  Just a day after the announcement of the increases, the following developments have taken place:

  • Bus and lorry companies announced that they are increasing charges or will be forced to stop services;
  • The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers said its members will pass on any increase in costs to consumers;
  • Hawkers and other food operators will wait and see before raising prices; and
